It certainly didn’t take Scion long to hollow out a FR-S, install a rollcage, bolt in a pair of Sparco seats and get on with all the detail work it takes to convert a street machine to a racer. In this case for the 2012 Formula Drift series, driven by Ken Gushi.

Toyota teamed with GReddy to build the FR-S racer and they are figuring on 600 horsepower to keep the car sliding.

And if you’re itching to get your hands on a FR-S, sign on to www.ScionFirst86.com. As of noon EST Thursday, January 12, Scion will be taking requests to be among the first 86 buyers to own an FR-S. Sticking with their numerology, Scion will take requests for 8 hours 6 minutes and the “First 86” will take delivery of their cars before they goes on sale to the general public.

Chrysler’s Mystery Machine - 2012 Detroit Auto Show

2012 Detroit Auto Show

We’d love to give you to full write-up on the Chrysler 700C. That would include facts like the wheelbase, driveline, when it will be launched and how much it will cost. We can’t. In fact, no one at Chrysler knows much about the 700C outside of the design department. The surprise appearance of this concept at the Detroit show means one thing: Chrysler is testing the design with the public. Could it be a future Chrysler minivan? If you care to post a vote (and if you’re jealous of voters in Iowa and New Hampshire, who are having all the fun), go to www.chrysler.com and try the This Is Chrysler tab.

And now, straight from 255 Elm Street, Holly, Michigan…

It reads like the address of a Midwestern primary school, but that’s where the Falcon F7 supercar has been developed and is now being assembled. What we have here is the first customer car ready to be delivered, but first visiting the Detroit show.

Based on an aluminum/carbon fiber monocoque and said to boast “…a solid, testosterone driven personality,” the mid-engine F7 sells for $195,000-$250,000. The body is carbon-fiber, the pushrod-type suspension honed from aluminum billets. Steering is rack and pinion with electric assist.

Falcon claims a curb weight of 2785 lb. for the F7, and says it hits 60 mph in 3.3 to 3.5 seconds. This blistering pace is provided by a 7.0-liter Chevrolet V-8 tuned to 620 bhp and 585 lb.-ft. of torque. Spun through a 6-speed transaxle, it would ultimately take the F7 to a top speed of 190 to 200 mph. On a skidpad, the F7 is said to generate as much as 1.3g.

Falcon plans to build and sell 15 cars in its first full year of production, raising that to 25 the second year and 100 or more in subsequent years.

Guessing Game #9

Guessing Game #9:

Welcome 2012 with this brand new episode of the Guessing Game. For the record, this is game number 9. Rules stay the same…look at this picture and make an educated guess as to what this could be. Each correct guess wins our love, admiration and respect! Leave your answer in the comments below!

All the best!

The right answer is: Proinjector – Microwave Projector Concept

Based on the theory that microwave poses a greater health risk to pregnant women, children and the silver generation; Proinjector has been designed to project a realtime image of how the food is cooking onto a wall. The cooking can be monitored from afar without risking unnecessary exposure. Basically keeping an eye from a distance; smart!

Go-Anywhere Drinking Water Condenser

Go-Anywhere Drinking Water Condenser:

NJORD (named after the god of the sea by the same name) is a portable water condenser targeted for warmer climates that was designed to condense the moisture in the surrounding atmosphere to create useable drinking water throughout the day. An internal thermostat monitors air temperature and adjusts an internal polar polymer to create the needed conditions for condensation to occur inside the bottle. Simply turn on the device and in two hours you’ll have a liter of water (in 50% humidity). Genius!
