Porsche 911 Carrera S 991 goes from 0 to 300 km/h (video)

Porsche 911 Carrera S 991 goes from 0 to 300 km/h (video):

The colleagues from Autoblog.nl have uploaded a video showing the progression of Porsche 911 (991) from standstill to 300 km/h. The test was carried out on a German autobhan and gives us the opportunity to appreciate the work of the ultra fast 7-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission equipping the model. This outstanding gearbox manages to get the most out of the 395 hp produced by the car’s 3.8-litre in-line six engine, proving that the performance figures boasted by the German carmaker are actually within reach.

2013 Mercedes SL leaked images

Mercedes-Benz will present the new SL m.y. 2013 at the upcoming North American International Auto Show in Detroit, this coming January, but apparently somebody just managed to put his hands on some sort of German brochure of the model as the very first images of the eagerly awaited new roadster from the three-pointed star have just surfaced on the internet. Website Germancarforum.com published some grainy shots that show us exterior, interior and instrumentation panel of the model, which is actually quite reminiscent of the current SLK in all these aspects.

As previously reported in an extensive post, we already know that the new SL will make use of a super-light aluminum body shell which will allow it to be 140 kg lighter than its predecessor, and will feature some interesting new technology such as the FrontBass sound system (with bass loudspeakers placed in the footwells) and the Magic Vision Control (an innovative adaptive windscreen washing system). As for the engine range, rumor has it that a naturally aspirated 3.5 litre V6 unit will equip the SL350 while a 4.6-litre V8 should pulse under the bonnet of the SL500. We expect Mercedes-Benz to reveal more details about the new SL in the near future.

Skoda Superb covers the 1200 km between Shanghai and Beijing with one tank filling

Skoda Superb covers the 1200 km between Shanghai and Beijing with one tank filling:

skoda Shangai Beijing record

Skoda Superb 1.4-litre TSI with DSG transmission just set a new record that will go down to automotive history books: it is the first ever car that went from Shanghai to Beijing (1,200 km - 745 miles) with less than one tank filling. The model that achieved this particular record is a standard custom car which was driven in normal conditions on public roads and highways. The Superb was filled up in Shangahi, where two official lawyers supervised the sealing of its fuel tank, and covered the whole distance with renowned stunt director Li Zhi behind the steering wheel. With an average fuel consumption of not even 4.5 litres/100 km (52.3 mpg), Skoda Superb simply set a new standard in fuel efficiency.

Commenting on the achievement right after the arrival of the Superb in Beijing, Skoda China President Dr. Gerrit A. Marx said: “The low consumption is proof of the quality of our Superb, but it is also evidence for the great infrastructure in China and the importance of the driver with more than ten percent consumption in his right foot”. Superb indeed.
