There is a question mark over exactly what an ultrabook is these days, as it seems that many new laptops are being released by manufacturers with the tag ultrabook attached. In fact, the term ultrabook comes from Intel and their rules are in order to qualify as an ultrabook, the device must be powered by a Sandy Bridge processor or later. It will also need have a solid state disk (SSD) or hard disk drive (HDD) with a SSD cache for storage and ideally an ultrabook should weigh in at less than four pounds, while being under 0.8 inches thick.
Now that has been sorted out, we have this ultrabook with detachable keyboard from the Chinese firm Teso. The details are very limited at the moment as it appears to only be offered to the trade at the moment, which means that we are going to have to wait for the full specs on this 11.6 inch ultrabook come tablet device.
Currently what we do know is that the Teso K116 will come with an 11.6 inch LCD capacitive and multitouch display with a 1366 x 768 of pixel resolutions. There is even a handy 1.3 mega pixel web camera installed for face to face communications.
It will be powered by the latest 3rd generation chip from Intel, the Ivy Bridge processor, precise details on this or what graphics it will be using are unavailable at the moment. There will be a choice of internal memory from 1 GB, 2 GB and 4 GB of DDR3 RAM, as well as a choice between the 16 GB up to the 128 GB solid state drive (SSD) for storage purposes. Networking is covered by the usual Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and there is an optional 3G support, which is handy for when the device is taken away from the office or home.
It comes with a detachable keyboard, a card reader, a fingerprint reader, NFC, a couple of USB 2.0 ports and a fast connecting USB 3.0 port too. The K116 has been design work with either Microsoft Windows 8 or Windows 7; depending on the users own preferences.
