Canon announces IXUS 1100 HS slim compact 12x superzoom
Canon announces IXUS 1100 HS slim compact 12x superzoom: Canon has unveiled the IXUS 1100HS - a super-slim compact superzoom in the SD/IXUS family. Despite its small size, it manages to fit a 28-336mm equivalent, image stabilized lens in front of its 12.1MP back-illuminated CMOS sensor. It also has a 460k dot 3.2" (8.8cm) touchscreen LCD on its reverse. Unlike most previous Canon compacts, it includes the ability to shoot in 16:9, 3:2 and 1:1 image ratios. Beyond that there are the usual Digic 4-powered creative effects such as Miniature and Toy Camera, the ability to shoot high-speed bursts, slow-motion movies and 1080p24 HD capture. The 1100HS is also compatible with a new optional external flash.

Mixed feelings on this Upgrade to the TX9, April 6, 2011 This review is from: Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-TX10 16.2 MP Waterproof Digital Still Camera with Exmor R CMOS Sensor, 3D Sweep Panorama and Full HD 1080/60i Video (Black) (Electronics) I own the TX9 which has been stellar thus far (with the exception of the flash failing and needing replacement from Sony) with excellent video quality and very good photo quality. My review of the TX10 is based on my experience with the TX9. Rather than getting deep into a wordy review of this camera I will give good/bad qualities: Good: – Water proofing to 15 feet is a really handy feature. This camera handled pool water like a champ with no issues of water infiltration anywhere. - Sharp video with beautiful color saturation. Compared to the TX9, the TX10 has slightly better video quality. - Quick functioning zoom, especially during video recording and compared to the TX9. - Menu layout is a bit more intuitive compared to the TX9. - Camera body is smaller compared to TX9. - Fish-eye effect seems to be less compared to the TX9 at wide angles. (but it’s still there)… 26 of 30 people found the following review helpful:
Phenomenal Camera!!!, April 12, 2011 This review is from: Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-TX10 16.2 MP Waterproof Digital Still Camera with Exmor R CMOS Sensor, 3D Sweep Panorama and Full HD 1080/60i Video (Black) (Electronics) I have spent a few months researching cameras and I had very specific needs. Anytime I make a purchase a make sure to do my homework and go into a store like Best Buy to actually play with the camera for a bit. I was looking for something with a high megapixel quality, at least 4 optical zoom, HD video capability, waterproof, and compact. After looking at several other brands this was head and shoulders above the rest. It not only takes fantastic pictures but the photos I took underwater in the Caribbean look like they should be on a postcard ( and I am not a photographer by any means!!). The camera transitioned without hesitation from the water to the beach to dinner. There were no issues with the salt water or sand and I have to say the shutter speed was lightening fast underwater and above. In fact, I would have bought this camera even if I didnt need the waterproofing but now I can take this camera to any event whether it is a concert or a vacation. The picture quality is even… |

Amazing Straight From The Box, August 31, 2010 This review is from: Canon PowerShot SX130IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera with 12x Wide Angle Optical Image Stabilized Zoom with 3.0-Inch LCD (Electronics) I first heard about the SX130is on August 19th- the same day I had decided that my final purchase decision would be the SX120is. After reading a few reviews, it had me convinced that this would be worth waiting for. I received my SX130is late this morning- and have to say, right from the box it was just amazing. Every time in the past when purchasing a new camera, it takes some adjusting and “breaking in” before fully great-quality pictures come, but with this one, literally from the first shot it has been wonderful. The HD video also records wonderfuly, and the sound is great as well- even with using all of the 48x digital zoom! The one “downside” to the video mode is that the image doesn’t auto-focus as you zoom in, at times you have to re-focus using the shutter just as you normally would when taking a picture, but I personally didn’t find that too annoying once I figured it out. The miniature and fisheye modes are a blast to use, and the smart-shutter mode (takes the photo when a… 194 of 196 people found the following review helpful:
A Fantastic Compact Zoom Choice, December 12, 2010 This review is from: Canon PowerShot SX130IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera with 12x Wide Angle Optical Image Stabilized Zoom with 3.0-Inch LCD (Electronics) I’ll start by saying that I’m a Canon fan. Three out of four of my current digital cameras, including both my DSLR’s, are Canon. When I was looking to upgrade my compact zoom, this unit caught my eye for both its price point and its feature set. For a sub-0 compact zoom, this camera definitely leads the pack. Pros:

Superb mini all-rounder, November 1, 2010 This review is from: Canon PowerShot SX130IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera with 12x Wide Angle Optical Image Stabilized Zoom with 3.0-Inch LCD (Electronics) I bought this camera mainly because it was reviewed as having good pic and video quality, it has HD video, and it takes AA batteries. So far it’s been superb all round. The AA batteries bit is a really big deal for me. I so nearly bit the bullet and got a camera that uses a proprietary battery pack — as, tragically, they almost all do now — only to discover, when trying to get 2 spare packs, that they’re basically unobtainable! This makes such a camera useless for me, as on a long trip (e.g. weekend hike), once the battery is dead, you’re stuffed until you find a 110v outlet to charge from. I understand that AAs are more bulky for a given charge, and presumably that’s why the SX130 only takes two. I’d personally take a larger handgrip to make room for two more batteries, but the bottom line is, it doesn’t really matter. Just take along spares, and change them out as needed. Use NiMH batteries for best life (conventional batteries like Duracells simply… |
