Asus launches the N76, N56 and N46

Asus launches the N76, N56 and N46:

It was back in January at the CES 2012 in Las Vegas when we first spotted the new N series range from Asus, but now more details are finally coming out on the range and they are quite impressive too.

Throughout the range an aluminium case is the first thing to notice, then comes the specs, Asus have gone with the Ivy Bridge processor range from Intel, GeForce 500 graphics cards from Nvidia and there are some series speakers from developed by Bang & Olufsen too. All of which make the N Series an interesting choice for consumers.

Samsung Galaxy S 3 Display Will Be A Super AMOLED HD Plus Of 4.8″

Samsung Galaxy S 3 Display Will Be A Super AMOLED HD Plus Of 4.8″:

For long, Samsung has produced some of the best Android smartphones in the market. Their flagship Galaxy S line has always been the most sought after by ardent Android buffs. The Samsung Galaxy S 2 was a huge hit worldwide, some even considered it to be better than Apple’s iPhone. Now while the world waits for Apple to announce it’s next generation iPhone, Samsung will be unveiling their Galaxy S 3 soon enough. The latest news about Samsung’s upcoming smartphone is that it will sport a Super AMOLED HD Plus display of a staggering 4.8 inches.

galaxy s III e1330224032666 Samsung Galaxy S 3 Display Will Be A Super AMOLED HD Plus Of 4.8

Oh, and it gets better. Samsung Galaxy S 3 will be simultaneously launched in over 50 markets/cities. Which means that major European as well as American markets will be getting it at the same time. For the Galaxy S line of smartphones, this is going to be the first ever simultaneous launch. Currently the release date is unknown, however Samsung has previously confirmed that they will be holding a special event for Galaxy S 3 launch a couple of weeks after Mobile World Congress 2012.

Flagship Android devices usually come with huge touchscreens. Take for example the Galaxy Nexus, a smartphone on which Google and Samsung collaborated. It has a 4.65″ inch display. The Samsung Galaxy S 3 with the 4.8″ inch touchscreen display will tout Super AMOLED HD Plus technology, and if it materializes, rest assured Android fans will be blown away. The source of this information also reveals a couple of other things. It is rumored that the Galaxy S 3 will have a quadcore processor, a bigger and better cameras and 4G LTE support. Google’s latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will also reportedly be installed by default. Back panel of this upcoming smartphone is said to be made out of ceramic.

2012 is going to be an amazing year related to smartphones. Apple’s CEO recently stated that the products they will release in 2012 will ‘blow your minds’. We already know that Apple is readying up the iPhone 5, which is also said to have a quadcore processor, 4G LTE support and better cameras. Devout Android users anxiously await the release of Samsung Galaxy S 3, and I’m quite sure that it will not fail to impress.

March’s Assignment – The Magic Number 3

March’s Assignment – The Magic Number 3:

The third month of the year seems like an appropriate time to encourage our intrepid photographers/readers in the quest to capture the magic of “three” in their compositions. There’s indeed a magical quality to this digit when applied to photography, or art in general, and something very pleasing to the eye – perhaps the third one! – when subjects are presented in “threes.” The rule of thirds, third time’s the charm, three pennies in a fountain – you’ve heard these concepts and cliches before. Now it’s time to literally apply them in your work with your camera. Make THREE the theme of your intention when hunting down images. Three clouds in the sky, three birds on a wire, three bottles of beer on the wall, the number 3 literally on your mailbox…whatever your heart desires. Or if you’d rather apply the three theme in a unique way, think in terms of a triptych – three images that tell a single story or relate to one another in some fashion. Certainly, this approach is appropriate to the idea. “March” on in there and grab those threes. As in the Japanese written form of haiku and in the spirit of this assignment, we would like you to submit exactly 3 images. Not one, nor two or beyond three. Precisely three!

Submitting images:

Please send all submissions to bobm@rmsp.com. All images should be:

• jpeg format

• 72 ppi

• 600 pixels on the longest side

• If possible, we’d love it if the images you submit have your name in the file name and include a watermark (that’s the “© John Doe” at the bottom of the pic).

Deadline:

March 27, 2012

Submitted images will appear in an online gallery on Paper Airplanes, RMSP’s blog on or about March 30, 2012. All images will be used in the online gallery for this specific assignment only and will be copyrighted to the photographer. An email confirmation will be sent once your submission is received. If you do not receive the email confirmation, please contact bobm@rmsp.com.

New Lightroom Instructor in Career Training This Season

New Lightroom Instructor in Career Training This Season:

Hello everyone!

My name is Forest Chaput de Saintonge and I have been working as an assistant at the school for the past five years. Throughout that time (and my entire life) I have seen hundreds of students grow from complete beginners in photography, to knowledgeable, confident and experienced photographers. It has always been amazing to see students leave the Career Training program ready to start their own successful photography business.

I am an Adobe Certified Expert in Lightroom 3 and this year I will be teaching Lightroom to the Summer Intensive students. We will move through the entire program in few weeks, leaving hardly any features and functions untaught. Beginning with a thorough explanation of a “catalog” based image organization system (the backbone of Lightroom) and slowly moving through the many features of Lightroom, including photo organization, global and local edits, finally ending on the best way to move images into Photoshop for more advanced edits.

One of the challenges that we are facing heading into this season here at RMSP is the release date of Lightroom 4. It’s currently planned to be released sometime around the start of the Summer Intensive program, but the exact date is unknown which means it could be released after the students begin learning Lightroom 3. This means that I might have to begin teaching the students Lightroom 3 and make the transition part way through the summer.

This is good in many ways, as Lightroom 4 offers photographers many new useful features and changes that makes it more streamlined and efficient.

At this point Adobe has only released the Lightroom 4 BETA version which usually varies slightly from the final version, however it does give us a good idea about what’s ahead. Many of the most notable new features I have mentioned below:

- Two new modules, Map and Book, allow users to create beautiful photo books, and make use of GPS enabled cameras to sort their images by the included location information.

- Rearranged sliders in the develop module allow for faster and more understandable editing.

- Updated shadow a highlight controls

- Added additional local adjustments

- Ability to email photos directly from Lightroom

- Enhanced video support

Adobe has also added many other new features that run throughout the program, these are just the ones that I’m the most excited about.

I hope to provide the students a thorough understanding of Lightroom and teach them the skills to help make them feel comfortable working with their photos through all stages of image organization and manipulation. For all of you who are currently enrolled in the 2012 Career Training program, I look forward to seeing you and many other new faces around RMSP this summer.

Mark S. Johnson and Creative Compositing: The Impressionistic Photograph

Mark S. Johnson and Creative Compositing: The Impressionistic Photograph:

In terms of creativity and technological know-how, Mark S. Johnson is unparalleled in his field. His highly developed sense of style, beauty and openness to all that inspires has earned him the reputation of a superb instructor. This is particularly true in the area of digital imaging and creatively combining photographic images using Adobe® Photoshop® to create entirely unique fine art images. His own fine art work is stunning and is something most people would be honored to have hang on their wall. This summer, Mark will once again be teaching our Creative Composting: The Impressionistic Photograph workshop in his beautiful hometown of Boulder, Colorado where he lives with lovely wife and daughter. For details and a complete course description, click here.

Mark is also a creator of incredibly creative and helpful ebooks and tutorials on various digital imaging topics. As of late, he has produced a new video tutorial series he calls, Maximum Creativity with Filter Forge and Photoshop. If you’ve not heard of Filter Forge before, here’s his description from his website:

“Filter Forge is the most versatile and exciting software that I’ve encountered in a long time. When it’s partnered with Photoshop, there’s simply no limit to your creativity. Unlike other filter products that often meet just one need, such as black and white effects or sharpening, Filter Forge is multi-faceted. It features over 4000 creative photo effects and almost 4500 realistic textures. The number of effects and textures are growing by the day because Filter Forge filters are created not by 10 engineers in a lab, but by thousands of users from around the globe. Because there are so many contributors, Filter Forge is home to several of the most breathtaking and realistic effects that I’ve ever seen. Each of these effects can be applied directly to a photograph or can be combined with the source image in Photoshop to produce astonishing results.”

Now, that sounds simply incredible. If you’re of the mindset of a Michelangelo, Monet or Merlin, this series will be sure to knock your creativity right out of the park!

AND in case you aren’t aware of Mark’s mastery as an amazing and prolific artist, perhaps you should take a gander at some of his latest creations in this gallery of his favorites of 2011. He is truly one-of-a-kind on so many levels that we stopped counting them long ago!

Join Mark S. Johnson for Creative Compositing: The Impressionistic Photograph in Boulder, CO on June 16-22, 2012. This is a “don’t miss” opportunity and space is limited!

Tea Timer For Perfect Steeping

Tea Timer For Perfect Steeping:

Lets face it, people do fuss over their tea and it’s only fair to aid them with appliances that allow them to follow their ‘perfect cuppa’ obsession to the core. For example the TEA Thermos; its is a flask that masters steeping by combining a timer and spool!

The rotating timer mechanism is connected to a spool and chain and while the timer dial slowly inches towards ‘zero’, the spool retracts the tea bag out of the water for you. Simply clip on the tea bag, set your desired time, and a well balanced infusion of tea is on its way!

Kitchen Design for Now and When You Are Ninety!

Kitchen Design for Now and When You Are Ninety!:

Disturbed by the way their ninety-year-old ‘Nan’ has to struggle in her current kitchen scenario, Product Tank has designed this compatible Kitchen 02. It’s compatible in the sense that both the sliver generation and the young-guns can use it easily. Like they say, “This is not a Kitchen for a Michelin starred chef, just an old lady who wants to remain independent and cook herself simple meals.”

Features:

  • The kitchen is small to reduce the amount of movement between areas.

  • Everything has been designed so that tasks can be performed sitting down.

  • You can get your legs under the sink to make washing up and preparing food easier.

  • The sink has a shelf to rest things on whilst you clean them and a moveable divider to split the sink into two areas so you can wash up and still have a vegetable prep area.

  • You can remove the divider to have one large sink capable of fitting an oven tray.

  • The prep area is recessed so that if there is a spillage, anyone sat down won’t get wet and all spillages can be swept into the sink to make cleaning easier.

  • There are two boilers.

  • To use one, you simply engage the plug and fill with water directly from the tap.

  • The boiler eliminates the need for carrying heavy pans full of water and the risk of pans tipping over, especially when sat down.

  • Sensors in the sides prevent the boiler from being overfilled or boiling dry.

  • A light cage holds and drains the food being cooked, or the boilers can be used as steamers.

  • The boilers are easy to clean and trash eaters take care of any loose bits of food. Taking pots and pans out of the equation is not only a safety feature, but also reduces the amount of storage needed.

  • The controls are angled to make them easy to read and it’s easy to see if they have been left on from a distance.

  • The dials are easy to grip and the numbering is high contrast.

  • A bold graphic makes it easy to see which dial relates to which cooking element, without having to look at small awkward diagrams.

  • This model includes a frying plate and an induction hob for soups and sauces.

  • These elements are plug and play and can be quickly changed for a variety of options and easily removed for cleaning.
