MoBo dp43tf, 2TB WD-HD not detected in cold start

MoBo dp43tf, 2TB WD-HD not detected in cold start: "

I recently stepped into a problem with my HTPC wich reduces to the above mentioned configuration: the HDD is pefectly recognized by the BIOS SATA driver ver 1.10.05 of the latest BIOS (NBG4310H.86A.0107.EB.EXE) when warm-booting, but is not -at least not completely- detected when cold booting. If I stop the Bios with 'Pause' for a second early enough (before device detection: the SATA driver displaying dots ...) the drive is also recognized.

I checked and changed the power supply line, I tried all the HDD PreDelays (which seemed to have no influence at all - no IDE devices?), I switched all meaningful alternatives (esp. hiding/displaying extension board text) in the BIOS, and googled, all to no avail.

There is just one detail: the SATA driver always displays "06 Ports, 01 Devices" and either the HDD-code or "No device", the BIOS on the contrary shows either also the HDD code or -thats the hint for an existing and only partially recognized drive- a <totally blank entry> where the HDD code usually is, whereas for all other ports "No device " is shown.

Usually the HTPC is just suspended but in the rare case of deep trouble it has to be powered off (no reset button) and so the problem came up. Are there any suggestions, please?

Thank you in advance!

DZ68DB: BIOS 0014 reset issue

DZ68DB: BIOS 0014 reset issue: "

Hello all,

I've recently bought a DZ68DB-type mainboard, which shipped with a v0014 BIOS.

One issue I have with this is the following: Whenever I hit the PC's reset button or reboot via the corresponding Windows option, the system intermittently turns itself off (for about 2 or 3 seconds, turning off power to the entire system, including fans and hard disks) and then powers on again. This is not only something I've never encountered with any other mainboard (including Intel ones), but it also doesn't happen with the previous (v0011) BIOS (with which the reset happens as expected, rebooting immediately). Of course I've reset the BIOS to defaults to rule out odd settings causing this -- I also haven't found any options influencing this.

Am I the only one with this issue, or can others confirm this behavior? Should this be reported as a bug (anyone in the know as to where to do so?)?

Intel Vt-d support

Intel Vt-d support: "

I'm desperatelly searching for some information on Vt-d technology, but all I found is complete confussion.

Is Intel Vt-d supported only by those few Intel motherboards listed on this page http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/cs-030922.htm ?

From my research on the web it seems that Gigabyte definitelly doesn't support Vt-d on any of their motherboards. Information about MSI and Asus does seem to indicate similar state.

So what is actually needed for Vt-d? It's listed as CPU feature, but it needs a Vt-d capable chipset (which is a distinction I can't find anywhere) and a Vt-d capable motherboard. Am I right?

I'm building a new workstation (2k-4k USD range) and there aren't any Vt-d capable motherboards, then I really need to rethink my strategy (and perhaps buy two cheaper machines instead).

I would like to build my machine around Intel® Core™ i7-2600 Processor (8M Cache, 3.40 GHz)

DG 43GT - max RAM = 4GB? How to enable?

DG 43GT - max RAM = 4GB? How to enable?: "

I replaced my dead mobo with a DG 43GT a while back. Since I was chronically running near max RAM (3GB stock) I decided to upgrade to 4GB. Turns out that this isn't the slam-dunk it seems it should be, since my system still shows "4GB installed (2.96GB usable)." Turns out there are all kinds of viewpoints on this problem on the web, controversial workarounds, people saying it doesn't matter, people saying it can't be done, etc. But the thing I keep coming back to is the advertised Intel specs on this board: 4GB@32bit. Is that accurate, or isn't it? If it's accurate, how do I make it happen? If it's not accurate, then I'm pretty ****** at having to waste a LOT of time getting the right RAM for this, not to mention the money involved.

Win7, 32 bit, onboard video.

DP67BG and PCI

DP67BG and PCI: "

I recently bought a DP67BG motherboard (B3) and was not able to make a PCI sound card work (Sound Blaster Audigy SE). The card was working on another machine.

The behaviour is the same in both Windows XP SP3 and Ubuntu 11.04: the card is recognized, drivers are installed without issues, but there is no sound. Also, some software freeze - but does not crash - when trying to play sound (such as XP Control Panel applet and Ubuntu Banshee media player). Analog recording, however, is perfect. The symptoms are the same regardless of the hardware configuration: I've tried to put the sound card in both PCI slots, disabled everything onboard and even tried WinXP without the video card.

I have tried also an older sound card (SB Live), on WinXP with default drivers: it plays sound, but recording does not work.

So far, the only PCI card I managed to work was a 1394 adapter (VIA chip).

I have read elsewhere that P67 motherboards may have PCI issues as this chipset does not support PCI natively. Also, I've checked that there have been BIOS updates for other motherboards, both from Intel (DP67BA) and from other manufacturers, that deal with PCI incompatibilities. However, for DP67BG there is no such update until now.

I'd like to know if my motherboard may be defective, and if there are any incompatibilities with PCI bus that may be addressed by Intel in the near future.

My configuration:

DP67BG

Core i5 2500K

2 GB Kingston LoVo memory

EVGA GeForce GTX 550Ti

Seventeam ST-550P-AM

DX58oG and Kingston KVR1333D3N9-RAM

DX58oG and Kingston KVR1333D3N9-RAM: "

Hello,

ich have the DX58OG board and 6 DIMMs Kingston KVR1333D3N9. Board has the latest BIOS.

If I put three of them in the system works normal and boots up without problem.

If I put 6 of them in the system doesn't show a picture on the screen and hangs with code 68 on die mainboard-post-LED.

I know that the ram is not on the compatibility list of the board but is there any way to bring it to work?

Thanks

DH67CF does not read EDID monitor info when connected to VGA port

DH67CF does not read EDID monitor info when connected to VGA port: "

Hi all,

My DH67CF motherboard is connected to a LCD monitor via DVI to VGA adaptor.

Problem is that EDID data is not read, resulting in 'not plug and play monitor' in windows.

It was working OK with DG45SG motherboard.

I tried 3 different monitors and DVI-VGA adaptors but it still does not work on the newer DH67CF.

EDID data is working very well with DVI and HDMI, but it seems that it is not working at all on VGA.

Does anybody know why it is not working on VGA ?

Intel DX58SO with i7 950 and 6 Gig

Intel DX58SO with i7 950 and 6 Gig: "

My computer has started crashing and that lead me find out that my CPU started overheating.

My CPU is fine, passes all the tests, so I put a Hydro H70 on it and I am back down in the happy temp area.

My computer however is still crashing.

The Winodws Logs say that the PCI Express Root Port is causing issues and I am curious if this might be the culprit of my crashes.

I have ports 1, 3 and 7.

I have only seen issues on 3 and 7. When I disable 7 one of my two, two-port video cards turns off, so it is likely that port 3 is the other two-port video card.

Should I be concerned that the video card is a problem or that the motherboard itself is a problem or even that the CPU is somehow the problem?

I updated drivers on my computer but I still get these:

A corrected hardware error has occurred.

Component: PCI Express Root Port
Error Source: Advanced Error Reporting (PCI Express)

Bus:Device:Function: 0x0:0x3:0x0
Vendor ID:Device ID: 0x8086:0x340a
Class Code: 0x30400

Any ideas?

SASMF8I Can't see the firmware version

SASMF8I Can't see the firmware version: "

#I recently aquired on of this RAID boards and decided to set it up at home as a CHEAP RAID Solution. After reading

the docs it looks like I have set it up correctly and all. I can't seem to see the firmware version from the Web Console

though. This is running with a 650Watt Power Suppy, 8 SATA Drives, Biostar (Desktop) Motherboard etc... oh and

I am using Windows 2008 RC2 Server (standard). Loaded the Drivers, the Web Console etc all seemed to go well.

When I called support I got a lecture #1 I was not using an Intel Motherboard, #2 not using a server motherboard

and that's about it.. Since it could not see the BIOS it would not update the firmware so Intel sent me a new card

out to see if that made a difference, it didn't. I have already seemed to experience 2 drives failing for no

apparent reason. So after I received the new SASMFf8I card am doing a foreground rebuild and see where it goes.

Any ideas? Does anyone use this not in a real server? I don't know what the real difference is in a Motherboard

of a server verses a desktop system other then power, CPU and more memory, the boards work basically the

same I would think?? I also dont want to shell out $500 on a motherboard, new CPU, new memory to boot...

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Tom
