Blackberry Torch Vs Iphone 4g

Blackberry Torch Vs Iphone 4g:

The BlackBerry Torch and the iPhone 4 are two smartphones worth taking into consideration if you plan to buy a new device. However, BlackBerry and Apple use different technologies and design smartphones for different purposes, so in the end it comes down to personal taste and budget. All I can provide is a comparison of features.

 BlackBerry Torch (Source: cdn.crackberry.com)

BlackBerry Torch (Source: cdn.crackberry.com)

From this point of view I’d like to start with the screen. I think you all have been mesmerized by the iPhone’s Retina display that provides a resolution of 640 x 960 pixels although it measures only 3.5 inches. These features make it superior to the 3.2-inch screen of the BlackBerry Torch that comes with a resolution of only 360 x 480 pixels. In the same time Apple’s device has a screen more responsive and with better contrast and brightness levels. However, the BlackBerry does it job beautifully, so the user experience isn’t dramatically affected by the lower quality display.

In charge of speed is the processor and it seems like the iPhone 4 does better because it comes equipped with a 1GHz processor while the Torch’s processor runs at 624MHz. However, you should know that memory management is also important, so the BlackBerry scores some points of its own, but it’s still not enough to beat the better graphics of Apple’s device. When it comes to the battery, the Torch is able to catch up, because it’s known that RIM designs quality batteries with excellent battery life. Unfortunately for RIM, Apple knew battery life is a concern so it did its best to improve the battery of the iPhone 4. However, the BlackBerry Torch still resists without charging for a longer time, but taking into consideration the wider variety of activities provided by the iPhone 4, I think it’s best to call it a tie.

We also love smartphones because of their web browsing capabilities, so we can’t move on without questioning the Safari browser that comes with the iPhone 4 and the WebKit browser that has been integrated on the BlackBerry Torch. Well, their quality is similar, but the limited number of tabs allowed on the Safari makes me consider the Torch more desirable from this point of view. In addition, it also feels easier to navigate with the help of the WebKit browser.

The camera section is filled with similar specifications because both smartphones come with a 5-megapixel camera. The only difference is that the iPhone 4 also features a front-facing camera that’s perfect for video calling. However, the BlackBerry Torch still remains the best device for a business man in need of a reliable partner.

Nokia N Series

Nokia N Series:

The Nokia N series represent one of Nokia’s most successful lineups and includes a few amazing devices that come with all the features you might be looking for in a phone. If you are a Nokia fan and you would like to purchase a N series device, then let me give you an example or two.

 Nokia N Series (Source: mobilesreview.com)

Nokia N Series (Source: mobilesreview.com)

I will start with the N95 that comes with 8GB of internal memory, just perfect for all your music and video files and for the photos you will take with the existing 5-megapixel camera. The phone also features a 2.8-inch display with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels and 3G support that makes it compatible with the fast networks of all major phone carriers. The connectivity options also include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS support. The only downside is that no expansion slot is available. When it comes to the keyboard, you will find only a few physical buttons for the main functions below the screen, because the alphanumeric keypad is revealed when you slide out the phone. Performance wise, the Nokia N95 provides a quality user experience. The GPS and browsing capabilities available are satisfying as well as battery life. The 1,200mAh Li-Ion battery ensures 5 hours of talk time over GSM and 11 days of standby time.

Another phone part of the N series is the N97, a touchscreen phone with a full QWERTY keyboard. In terms of design is a heavy phone because it weighs 5.29 ounces and measures 4.6 x 2.1 x 0.6 inches. The touchscreen measures 3.5 inches and supports 16.7 million colors and a resolution of 640 x 360 pixels. It’s not as exquisite as the screen of other smartphones on the market in terms of brightness and contrast, but it’s enough to support the phone’s main features. You will find more appropriate the software, especially the eight widgets you can accommodate on the screen at a time. That makes it easier to navigate the phone as well as the integrated task manager and the multitasking capabilities. You will also enjoy using the sliding mechanism that allows you to place the phone at an angle to better type on the QWERTY keyboard that’s revealed by the slide out motion. This slide out keyboard is well designed, with spacious keys that reduce the risk of mistyping.

Also part of the N series are the N96, the N79 and the N85 that come with a wide range of features, but still aren’t as sophisticated as the other smartphones on the market. However, Nokia’s devices are known for their reliability and high quality.

Nokia 770

Nokia 770:

The Nokia 770, also known as the Nokia 770 Internet Tablet, comes with an incredible high-resolution screen that displays web pages amazingly. It measures 5.5 x 3.1 x 0.7 inches, weighs 8.2 ounces and is one of the choices available on the market when it comes to Internet tablets. It’s a little too long to be placed in your pocket, but has some advantages over a PDA including a high-resolution screen.

This Internet tablet features a 4.1-inch display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels that allows it to display web pages with little horizontal scrolling. The images look bright and colorful. On the left side of the screen is located a four-way navigation pad while below the navigator are accommodated the Back, Menu and Home keys. On top of the device you will find the full-screen toggle button, the power button and the zoom rocker while at the bottom you will notice the AC connector, the media slot and the 3.5mm headphone jack.

The Nokia 770 comes with an onscreen keyboard and with a handwriting-recognition program. The interface is attractive and intuitive, so navigating through the menu will be a pleasure. Even if this Internet tablet looks like a PDA, it features a web-oriented feature set, being able to connect to the web using Wi-Fi hotspots. The web experience is robust, because of the Opera 8 Mobile browser available that is able to support Flash content and JavaScript.

When it comes to the messaging section, the Nokia 770 provides support for IMAP4 and POP3 accounts and allows you to attach different documents to your emails. Regarding the audio player, the Nokia 770 has onscreen controls and you can listen to your favorite music as long as it’s in MP3, WAV or AAC format. The video department offers support for MPEG-1, AVI and RealVideo movies. To store your music and videos you have at your disposal 128MB of flash memory. There are also available other useful feats including a calendar and contact-management features as well as a battery that guarantees 3 hours of browsing time and 7 days of standby time.

Unfortunately, operating the Nokia 770 tends to be a little painful because of the slow experience. Even when you try to open a simple app, you will experience a pause of a few seconds. But things become even more painful when you try to load a 1MB PDF file. The upside is that this Internet tablet provides no more browsing delays once the web page of your choice is fully loaded.

Kicherer Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster Supersport GT/R

Kicherer is the first tuner to take care of Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster. The renamed ‘Supersport GT/R’ features a brand new front grille with vertical fins which is deprived of the big 3-pointed star logo that is typical of the original model. The 20′ burnished alloy wheels are also brand new, and get emphasized by the lowered ride height. The Supersport GT/R also features the ‘Front Up’ suspension system, which allows the driver to lift up the front of the car so that obstacles such as steep ramps and speed bumps can be overcome without scratching the lower part of the front bumper.

Kicherer also offers 2 performance kits which can boost the 521hp of the original model up to 630 or 650hp. The first kit is made of a new exhaust system, sports air filter and dedicated ECU mapping. Then the addition of sports catalysts can provide the Supersport GT/R with an extra 20hp, which would make it accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.5 seconds.

Alpina D5 Biturbo

Alpina D5 Biturbo:

Alpina D5 Biturbo

The new Alpina’s D5 Biturbo is the car with the most powerful 3.0 turbodiesel engine in the world. Based on the 535d model and powered by BMW’s famous in line 6 twin turbo diesel engine, this car boasts a maximum output of 350hp, which is significantly more than the 313hp of the original version. This result has been achieved thanks to the fine work done on cooling system and intercooler (which now features 2 oil-water heat exchangers). Moreover, the electronics of the 8 speed ZF gearbox have been revised as well.

Despite all this power, D5’s average fuel consumption is claimed to be only 6.2l/100km (6.5 for the Touring version), which is a pretty impressive figure considering that the car accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 5.2 seconds (5.3 for the wagon version), has a top speed of 270km/h (266) and CO2 emission of 165g/kgm (172 for the wagon). Also the tyres fitted on the 20′ alloy wheels are quite impressive: 255/35 on the front and 285/30 on the rear.

Porsche 991 Carrera S laps the Nurburgring in 7 :40

Porsche 991 Carrera S laps the Nurburgring in 7 :40:

Porsche 911 991 Carrera e Carrera S

Australian magazine GoAuto published an interview with Porsche’s Project Manager August Achleinter about the new 400hp Porsche 991 Carrera S 3.8 Coupè which, according to Achleinter, has managed to lap the famous Nurburgring North Loop in 7min and 40sec. The lap’s time is not official but, if confirmed, it would make a really interesting result as it would be on a par with the first generation 415hp 997 GT3, which boasts more ‘racing’ tyres and aerodynamics if compared to the the new Carrera S that did the lap with sports suspension, PDK and regular road tyres.

With the new GT3 versions already in the works, the new 991 could achieve even better results on the German circuit (which by now has become a sort of benchmark for almost everybody) as well as in all motorsport enthusiasts’ hearts. It is likely that new models will be equipped with a sporty version of the PDK, which will be more suitable to the needs of the GT series. During the same interview, Mr. Achleinter has also anticipated that the 991 GT3 will make use of carbon fiber - i.e. for the whole roof panel - in order to reduce the overall weight of the car, a job that has meticulously been done already in the passage from the 997 to the 991.

BMW M5: official photos

BMW M5: official photos:

BMW M5: nuove foto ufficiali

Five times BMW M5: first launched in 1984, BMW’s sporty saloon car just got to its 5th generation with the new model introduced just a few days ago at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. Although loyal to its own tradition, the new M5 shows a number of innovations that sets it apart from its predecessor. The most significant change of them all can be found under the bonnet.

As you might know, the M5 is now turbocharged. It will have a powerful 4.4 V8 twin turbo engine with Valvetronic and direct injection: very consistent at low revs (680 Nm at 1500 rpm), it boasts great acceleration. It unleashes its full 560hp power between 6000 and 7000rpm, and redlines at 7200rpm.

As for its performance: acceleration 0-100km/h in 4,4 s, 0-200km/h in 13,0 s, 305 km/h top speed with the M-Drivers-Package. BMW claims that the new M5’s average fuel consumption is 9,9 l/100 km, which is 30% less in comparison to the previous M5 thanks to the EfficientDynamics package, which features the start&stop function as well as a KERS.
