24h Rennen - Le Mans 2010

The number crunchers at Audi have been busy with their abacuses and come up with a slew of data:

  • The winning margin of 13.854 seconds equates to 2503.28 feet after 3006.45 miles of racing at an average speed of 125.06 mph.

  • The fastest lap set by an Audi R18 TDI in the race, 3m 25.289s, was more than a second faster than Peugeot’s best of 3m 26.298s. André Lotterer even undercut Benoît Tréluyer’s pole position time from qualifying in the process.

  • The highest speed recorded by an Audi R18 TDI along Les Hunaudières straight was 209.03mph with an average fuel consumption of 6.3 (US) mpg.

  • During the race, the lead swopped between four cars no less than 46 times while Audi topped the leader board for 261 of the 355 laps with the winning car credited with the most laps (246) in the lead.

  • Only nine sets of Michelin tires were used by the winning car, nick-named ‘Red Sonja’ by the mechanics, with Benoît Tréluyer completing the longest stint, five equating to 54 laps, on the same set of tires.

  • Finally, Marcel Fässler is the first Swiss driver to win the race.
