Dodge Dart Returns – 2012 Detroit Auto Show:

Dodge Dart Returns

Dodge is set to introduce the 2013 Dodge Dart at the North American International Auto Show next month and the return of the legendary nameplate also heralds in an abstract way the return of Alfa Romeo to the U.S. market. Dodge’s new subcompact will be based on the Alfa Romeo Giulietta platform, but instead of being a hatch, will be offered at first as a more traditional three-box sedan. The car will be powered by a choice of three so-called Tigershark 4-cylinder engines, which utilize Fiat’s Multiair valvetrain technology. Buyers can opt for a 2.0-liter normally aspirated four on base models, a turbocharged 1.4-liter four or a range topping 2.4-liter four. The Dart will be built at Chrysler’s Belvidere, Illinois assembly plant and the sedan will replace the hatchback Caliber in the lineup, which also marks a return to a more traditional approach to the small car market by Dodge.
