Fascinatingly Simple – Part Deux

Fascinatingly Simple – Part Deux:

From one of my favorite designers, Robert van Embricqs, the Rising Table is the latest in a series of sculptural furniture elements that are not only functionally genius but also aesthetically fascinating. Like the rest of the Rising Series, the table utilizes a unique slat-folding technique to transform from a flat piece of seemingly solid wood to a fully functional table with an intricate web of wonderful angles and angular shapes that are a signature of this remarkable designer.

Know Your Parking Spot in Advance

Know Your Parking Spot in Advance:

Ok so you drive into the public parking lot and keep circling around to find an empty spot. Cut, rewind and refresh! So you are back at the parking lot, only this time the ticket stub prints out the exact next available parking with a color-coded block, indicating the precise location for you. How cool is that! You not only save time in finding a spot, you also can find your way back to the car without a hitch. Awesome!

No Ordinary Scale

No Ordinary Scale:

I never think of food scales needing to be redesigned but gone are the days when one could leisurely walk into a deli or butcher shop and discuss the finer details of food while waiting for their meats to be prepared. We live in a hyper fast reality and that means just enough time to get in and get out. The Avery Retail Scales bring touchscreens, RFID tags and wireless goodies to the table but does it make for a better experience?

What’s it do? In a nutshell, you have a food scale with a detachable, wirelessly connected touchpad that can offer up suggestions on foods and flavors that compliment each other. You’d be surprised how many people don’t understand which wines best accompany a salmon steak. I sure didn’t until guess who told me? Yes my local fishmonger. But that’s just one person who can’t possibly split their time between all the customers in line. This device can also detect RFID chips in food packaging. All this information is supposed to give shoppers collective and instant access to the experienced recommendations of the sales staff along with cooking tips, sales, current offers, health and nutrition info.

The Tool Trike

The Tool Trike:

Designed to maximize efficiency in industrial workplaces, the Tool Trike provides a lightweight, eco-friendly and easy-to-use way of lugging around small (but often cumbersome and heavy) equipment from area to area. The structure is made of a durable carbon fiber compound and features a trunk capable of carrying most hand tools and other frequently used objects.
