Canon to attend Focus 2012

Canon to attend Focus 2012: Canon to attend Focus 2012

Canon has confirmed that it will be attending this year's Focus on Imaging camera show taking place at the NEC in March, after pulling out of last year's event.

A spokesperson for the company said, "We had a review of our marketing plans and now we think it is a good time to be back at the event."

They continued, "The photographic community always give Canon a warm welcome and the team are looking forward to meeting photographers and filmmakers at the show and helping them to get more out of their Canon technology."

Talking about the company's area at the show, the spokesperson told us that it would feature a Canon Professional Services (CPS) area to allow CPS members to try the latest professional level products, such as the Canon EOS 1D X and the EOS C300 from the Cinema EOS System.

Camera discounts

Focus on Imaging is an annual camera and digital imaging show that takes place during March at the NEC. It is not usually known for big launches, but does frequently offer the opportunity to look at products that are not yet available to buy. With many camera retailers at the event, it's also a good place to get a discount on photographic kit.

The Canon 1DX was announced last year, but is not expected to be available to buy until March. At the time of the 1DX announcement, Canon also announced it was working on another full-frame camera, which many suspect to be an upgrade to the 5D Mark II.

Rumours have been circulating for several weeks that a Canon EOS 5D X or 5D Mark III will be unveiled at the upcoming CP+ show taking place in Japan next week, so it seems likely that any new model would also be available to view at Focus.

Canon pulled out of the show last year just a few weeks before it took place, after previously having booked a large stand. In 2010 it had one of the biggest booths in the hall. Canon also hosts its own trade show in London every October. and the big draw at Canon Pro Photo Solutions Show in 2011 was the 1DX.

Could the company have something big up its sleeve ready for the 4th March? We'll be there to catch all the action, so stay tuned for more as it unfolds.
