Naming a laptop the EliteBook, may sound a little pretentious but HP has done a good job with this first venture into the business ultra book sector. The laptop hits all of the requirements to use the ultrabook title, such as being powered by Intel, even though the actual processors on offer are yet to be announced, it is slim at 0.75 inches, light at less than four pounds and offers fast starting along with a number of other premium features. One thing that really does stand here is the lovely looking sleek and lightweight aluminium design.
The EliteBook Folio Ultrabook 9470m comes with a 14 inch diagonal LED backlit HD anti-glare display with a 1366 x 768 of pixel revolutions and it comes with a built in 720p HD web camera. It will be powered by an as of yet un-named 3rd generation Ivy Bridge Intel Core processor, while the graphics will be coming from the Integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 card. There will be up to 16 GB of 1600 MHz DDR3 SDRAM available through two SODIMM slots and there is an up to 500 GB SATA II (7200 rpm) hard disk drive (HDD) to cover the storage issue.
Connectivity comes via three fast connecting USB 3.0 ports and a VGA ports, while networking it covered by the Integrated Intel 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection (10/100/1000 NIC) and the HP hs2350 HSPA+ Mobile Broadband feature. As for size the Ultrabook 9470m measures 13.3 inches (W) x 9.09 inches (D) x 0.75 inches (H) (33.8 cm x 23.1 cm x 1.89 cm) and weighs in at 3.6 lb (1.63 kg) with the 4 cell (52 WHr) Li-Ion battery pack in place.
The HP EliteBook Folio Ultrabook 9470m is expected to hit the stores this October and it will have a starting price of $1,150, but there are many options available especially when it comes to processor and graphics, which can take the final price of the laptop up a few levels.
