In an effort to make its messaging phones more appealing to the users, U.S. Cellular launched a new social mobile app that doesn’t require a smartphone. Available as a free download for postpaid customers with a data plan, Social Scene works on the carrier’s most popular messaging phones like the Samsung Messager Touch and LG Saber. The application consolidates Facebook, Twitter and some other social networks into one place, making it easy to say in touch with your buddies while on the go. Moreover, there’s the option to upload pictures from the phone, tweet and retweet in real-time, and stream customized RSS feeds from more than 50 news, entertainment and sports sites.
If you commit on a two-year U.S. Cellular contract (with the data plan), you’ll be able to get the LG Saber for free after instant rebate. The Samsung Messager Touch, on the other hand, costs $39.99 after a $50 mail-in-rebate.
Messaging feature phones are not good enough for you? No problem – U.S. Cellular also offers few Android smartphones.
