Pagani’s Designer Antonio Bruni Sketches His Idea For an Electric Sports Car

Pagani’s Designer Antonio Bruni Sketches His Idea For an Electric Sports Car: "

There are some nefarious people—some automotive designers chief among them—who don’t share our enthusiasm for the internal combustion engine. One such scoundrel is designer Antonio Bruno, an interior/exterior designer at none other than Pagani Automobili. Yes, that Italian purveyor of hand-built, AMG-powered, super-supercars with terrible names like the Huayra. In his spare time, it seems, Bruno has drawn up his vision of a brand-agnostic electric sports car called the Electrodinamycs Concept.

While the name is a reconstituted rip-off of BMW’s equally visionary EfficientDynamics plug-in hybrid, the Electrodinamycs says “no ICE, thank you,” and proposes four inboard-mounted permanent-magnet electric motors connected to the wheels by drive shafts instead. That’s about all the mechanical detail that’s provided. What do you expect for the CAD equivalent of a napkin sketch? With no engine bay front or rear, the newfound space could be used a variety of ways, and Bruno imagines using tinted acrylic from stem to stern, essentially creating one longitudinal window that could possibly conceal additional headlamps up front while creating a big bright dome over the interior.

While the Electrodinamycs’ bodyside panels look pretty cool and the lighting units are, er, unique, Bruno’s design actually breaks very little ground—at least compared with some of the proposals we’ve seen from teams affiliated with other carmakers recently. But hey, Pagani’s Pagani.
