Welcoming ECS H67H2-M The High End Motherboard with Affordable Prices

Welcoming ECS H67H2-M The High End Motherboard with Affordable Prices: "

The ECS H67H2-M motherboard is based upon Intel’s latest H67 Express chipset which was launched a short time ago. Intel has moved to a new Socket with the H67 chipset called the LGA-1155 Socket. This is not

compatible with the LGA-1156 Socket CPUs but is compatible with the CPU cooler due to the same footprint for the cooler. The H67H2-M Black motherboard from ECS is the most equipped from their H67 chipset

series and incorporates technologies like USB 3.0, EZ Charger and Dual Gigabit LAN with teaming support. The board supports only Intel HD Graphics overclocking, the CPU overclocking by multiplier is locked and the memory frequency is limited at 1333MHz.

FORM FACTOR : – Micro-ATX Size, 244mm*244mm

Ports that are available includes:

* 1x VGA Port

* 1x DVI-D Port

* 1x HDMI Port

* 1x Display Port (DP)

* 4x USB 2.0/1.1 Ports

* 1x E-SATA

* 2 x RJ-45 Port (LAN)

* 5x audio jacks

* 1 x Optical S / PDIF Out Connector

* BIOS 1x Reset Button

The ECS doesn’t provide a PS / 2 ports on the motherboard. So, you should have an USB connected or wireless keyboard and mouse. The interesting thing is the BIOS reset button allows you to reset the

BIOS when needed without having to open the computer case.

PCI slots are provided includes:

* 1x PCI-Express X16 slot

* 2x PCI-Express X1 slot

* 2x PCI slots

PCI board slots provided are sufficient to meet your expansion needs.

Unlike other motherboards, ECS decided doesn’t provide two PCI-Express x16 slots that can use multiple GPU configurations

As usual, the header line will be found the bottom of the motherboard.

Although using a micro-ATX form factor, which provided a fairly complete headers.

Five SATA ports that came with this board are ready to welcome a variety of storage you have. Seen two of the ports provided using the connection SATA3 (gray), the rest is a SATA2 port.

Socket on the motherboard is flanked by two heatpipes which served to cool the VRM.

VRM cooler on this motherboard is large enough. Therefore, it could cause problems if you use the HSF-type tower, because the fan will likely collide with the cooler. However, you can still use the HSF fan but with opposite positions with VRM cooling.

BIOS

Default BIOS of this board is still using the BIOS in general.

However, with the latest BIOS update available on the ECS website, then you will get BIOS with a look of Graphic User Interface (GUI) that is more beautiful and the ability to be able to use your mouse in the BIOS. This interface in the BIOS EUFI reminds us that already available on the motherboard, motherboard Sandy Bridge on the market.

Testing platform:

* Processor: Intel Core i7 2600K

* Motherboard: ECS H67H2-M, Intel H61

* Memory: Kingston KHX1600c9D3B1K2/4GX

* Hard Drive: Kingston SSDNow V +100 64 GB

* Power Supply: Coolermaster Silent Pro 800 Watt Gold

* Heatsink: Coolermaster Hyper 212 +

* Monitor: Philips 221E

* Input: Genius (keyboard and mouse)

* OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1

* Drivers: Intel Chipset 9.2.0.1.1025, Intel Graphic 15.21.10.2291

Conclusion

As expected, this motherboard has good performance for a black series edition. However, few small bother things is no PS / 2 ports available, maybe because it’s a black series motherboard aimed for overclockers or at least computer’s expertise, so they don’t need the PS/2 any longer. The other strange thing is the BIOS upgrade to the latest version using the GUI, which could cost slower response menus and also bad cursor color choices. Overall, this motherboard offers outstanding performance with good features.

Pros:

* Multiple displays using onboard graphics

* Ergonomic BIOS reset button placed

* Worth price for features installed

Cons:

* No PS / 2 ports available.

* BIOS with GUI still feels slow.
