Buick Regal GS
The highly anticipated Buick Regal GS will carry a stickerprice of $35,310, including destination charge, when it arrives at dealerships this fall. First seen during the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show, the front-wheel-drive sports sedan comes equipped with a turbocharged and direct-injected 270-bhp 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine. A 6-speed manual transmission is fitted standard, while a 6-speed automatic transmission is optional.
We’re holding out hope that Buick might see fit to include an optional all-wheel-drive system. Bump power to an even 300-bhp, add all-wheel-drive, and slap a Regal Grand National badge on the back. Okay, perhaps we’re getting a little greedy. The fact that Buick has built a turbocharged sports sedan is already a seismic shift from the brand’s traditional, shall we say, comfort-oriented image.
Buick also announced that pricing for the Regal with eAssist – a fuel-saving mild hybrid – starts at $29,530, including destination. The eAssist system is a $2,000 option on the Regal base model, which comes equipped with a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine. Fuel savings are said to improve by roughly 25 percent over the base model, for an average of 25/36-mpg during city and highway driving.
