2013 Cadillac ATS
A day after we showed you spy shots of the 2013 Cadillac ATS General Motors has released a sneak picture of its own as it confirms the 2013 ATS will be introduced next summer.
In a statement GM said “the ATS will give the brand a rear-wheel drive luxury sports car [sic] to compete head-to-head with the BMW 3-Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Audi A4 in the luxury market’s largest segment.”
“The car we codenamed ATS is being developed to be a driver’s car on an all-new Cadillac-specific RWD-AWD architecture,” General Motors North America President Mark Reuss said today at the Center for Automotive Research’s Management Briefing Seminars in Traverse City, MI. “We have extensively and exhaustively studied the competitive segment, and we have benchmarked the best. And when this car comes out, that will be readily apparent.” The 2103 ATS will be built alongside the CTS at the GM assembly plant in Lansing, MI.
2013 Cadillac XTS
Cadillac also announced that the 2013 XTS will be launched next spring. It is based on the XTS Platinum Concept unveiled at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show. This large luxury sedan will be available with front-wheel drive or an all-wheel drive system.
As an aside, General Motors also announced its financial results for the second quarter with a net income of $2.5 billion, which was better than financial pundits expected. Encouragingly, this is the sixth consecutive profitable quarter for the rejuvenated auto manufacturer. It even reported a modest profit for it’s European operations, which suffered a loss during the same period last year.
