With more than 60 prestigious brands in its portfolio, ranging from Moët Hennessy to Louis Vuitton and embracing the likes of TAG Heuer and De Beers, LVMH is the world’s leading supplier of luxury goods. But when it comes to prestige cars, the French marques of Renault, Citroën and Peugeot can never match the British or German carmakers. They have tried over the years and have always been found wanting.
Peugeot is having another crack at it with this latest concept unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show. A 6-seater, it adopts an MPV architecture within its 195-in. overall length. Yet at just 54 in. tall and 78 in. wide, it has the proportions of a low-slung sports car, which is further exaggerated by its slippery 0.28 drag coefficient. This image is further underlined by the inclusion of active aerodynamic side skirts and a rear spoiler that deploy to reduce drag above 62 mph, and wheels fashioned like turbine blades that open to create a flat disc surface.
