MPHC, D3D, and subtitles

MPHC, D3D, and subtitles: Hi, I am having problems with MPHC, D3D and subs

I open MPHC, load the avi file, and it shows D3D errors
like d3derr not available

and no preset at all aloow subs, the subtitles menu gets gray,...
