Whether your batteries need a full charge or just a trickle, the new Digital 1200 meets both needs.
With winter looming, it’s wise to have some plans forthose neglect-weakened batteries that we all have. Let’s be honest: Our project cars and race cars don’t always come together as quickly as planned, and it’s not unusual for these vehicles, along with their respective batteries, to be dormant for sometimes months on end.
The simple solution is to use a trickle, or float, charger to keep the battery topped up at all times. But if you should happen to forget to use it, then what you need is a plain old charger.
At SEMA, Optima, the makers of the ubiquitous yellow-and red-topped batteries, just announced the Digital 1200,a new charger and battery maintainer. Although the Digital 1200 has been optimized to charge AGM (Absorption Glass Mat) batteries, it can also charge flooded and other battery chemistries that are common in automotive and motorsports applications.
On top of the Digital 1200’s panel is a large state-of-charge gauge, with an inset LCD display that indicates charger status. Via its push-button interface, the user can select the appropriate battery chemistry and charging mode. Also handy is a built-in LED work light, as well as a USB port for charging all of your personal devices.
