Mini has released an app that encourages you to hammer the gas pedal and get some g-forces going in corners. Well, not really, but if you do the Driving Excitement app from Mini Connected will keep you informed about everything from power output, impending rain, and even lateral and longitudinal acceleration. Downloaded to the car via an iPhone, the information is displayed on the Mini’s on-board monitor.
The driver can choose one of several modes offered with the app. The Digital Sports mode turns the dash monitor into an extension of the car’s cockpit dials, thanks to a series of sport-themed gauges. Condition Check monitors fuel level, engine temperature, and any inclement weather that could put a damper on your driving fun. If the forecast is clear, the monitor encourages you to “Be Mini.” Meanwhile, the Force Meter mode keeps track of the g-forces you’re pulling under acceleration and through corners.
About the only mode lacking from the Mini Driving Excitement app is one that helps talk your way out of a ticket.
