The Taipei leg of the 2011 LeBron James Basketball Tour concluded this morning, August 12th, with a full day that began with a Q+A session involving 150 members of the Taiwanese media. LeBron fielded questions ranging from his advice to kids to how he thinks he can improve his game. From there, LeBron went on to meet a group of lucky fans inside the NEO 19 department store, while outside hundreds more had been waiting, some since 2 am the night before, just to catch a glimpse of their favorite basketball player. In honor of LeBron’s visit, the shop debuted the new Nike LeBron Ambassador IV, making the shoe available to the public for the first time. LeBron rounded out the day by coaching a basketball game between TSL All-Stars before joining his team on the court at the start of the second half, much to the delight of the fans in attendance.
Earlier in the day, LeBron expressed surprise at basketball’s global reach. “It’s amazing to be here and see the passion for the game,” he said. “I definitely hope I can come back to Taiwan.” Whatever you think of him, it can’t be denied that King James is the consummate global ambassador for the game of basketball.
