Toyota Fun-Vii Concept – 2011 Tokyo Auto Show

Toyota Fun-Vii Concept – 2011 Tokyo Auto Show:

Toyota Fun Vii Concept

2011 Tokyo Auto Show

Weird and wonderful vehicles – that’s what the bi-annual Tokyo Auto Show has always promised.

Toyota will not disappoint visitors with the Fun-Vii concept. It looks weird because the whole body is an interactive display “screen”. The color of the body can be changed and it can even display content from a computer or the Internet in real time.

That’s the exterior.

According to Toyota, the whole of the vehicle interior can also function as a display space, with the interior freely adjustable to match the mood of the moment. Content such as navigation information is blended seamlessly into the interior through the use of augmented reality.

On a more practical note, like concepts from other manufacturers, the Fun-Vii is able to link with surrounding vehicles and infrastructure, allowing it to detect potentially hazardous vehicles, such as vehicles in blind spots, in advance. Toyota says the concept “heralds a not-too-distant future where people, cars and society are linked”.

In case you’re wondering Vii stands for Vehicle, interactive, Internet. I guess it’s a car for those who can’t live or drive without being connected. Imagine – your passengers could play a car chase video game and have the mayhem displayed on the car’s body as you drive! Hey, there’s no law against it, yet.
