Is e-mail from work chasing you home? Toiling off hours with text messages?
Volkswagen found the modern outbreak of e-mails was harassing its workers to the point where it was becoming counter-productive. Annoying 1,154 of the non-executive employees in VW’s German factories who had been issued company smartphones.
So VW will now limit the time during which those employees can receive e-mail. That would be one half-hour before and after they start working each day plus, obviously, during work hours. They will still be able to make and receive voice calls.
A smart response to one aspect of smartphone fever. Or is it?
