A jury of 50 automotive journalists released the list of finalists for the coveted North American Car and Truck of the Year Awards. In the car category, the Ford Focus, Hyundai Elantra and Volkswagen Passat made the final cut from a list of 17 nominees. In the truck category, the BMW X3, Honda CR-V and Land Rover Range Rover Evoque emerged from a list of 7 candidates. The jury will vote again and the winning North American Car and North American Truck of the Year will be announced on January 9, 2012 during the press days at the North American International Auto Show. The awards, which are independent of the show, recognize the best car and truck available to the North American market. R&T Editor-in-Chief Matt DeLorenzo is among the jury members.
