Volvo products have long been characterized by certain attributes, with clean Swedish styling, great seats, and, of course, safety being chief among them. Powertrain innovation, on the other hand, would be way down the list. The XC60 Plug-In Hybrid concept, making its official debut at the 2012 Detroit show, offers little news on Volvo’s core competencies, but underhood is a preview of the company’s upcoming gasoline plug-in hybrid powertrain. The setup includes one engine, two electric motors, and one big battery.
