The European Chevrolet range will get the Malibu for the first time as the model debuts at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show next month. It will be the first time the Chevrolet Malibu appears on European shores and it will arrive with two engines, a petrol and a diesel.
The petrol engine produces 164 hp and the diesel 169 hp, but other details are scarce at the moment. The North American Chevrolet Malibu will go into production in January and should debut in the first part of 2012, for the European car market we’ll see it at Frankfurt but there is no indication about production or sales on that continent yet.
Notwithstanding the more than respectable sedan, we’re a bit dubious over the European appetite for the Malibu, given the competition in sedans over here - but then again, you never know. If we had to tote the European flag though, we wouldn’t mind some more investment in Opel and a whopping Opel Insignia to get excited about, rather than the Malibu.
