Infiniti recently announced its partnership with/sponsorship of F1′s Renault-powered Red Bull Racing, and now a video has surfaced that hints at the first real-world fruit of the tie-up: a special-edition Infiniti FX.
The clip shows Red Bull driver and reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel and Infiniti/Nissan chief designer Shiro Nakamura standing around a table littered with photographs of the FX; note the interior in the still above. The two are discussing what seem like Formula 1–inspired design tweaks for the sporty crossover, while several F1 car components, including a steering wheel and pedal assembly, also occupy the tabletop.
While Vettel could simply be getting his own FX personally spiffed up by Nakamura, Infiniti surely wants more tangible rewards from the Red Bull partnership. For that reason, we figure the special FX is at minimum a show vehicle, and it might even reach production. Lest the thought of an FX with wicked downforce and an 18,000-rpm redline pop into your head, though, the model’s alterations are likely to be mainly cosmetic.
Watch the video below, and try not to get distracted by visions of an RBR-liveried G24S, powered by the RB7‘s wailtastic 2.4-liter V-8.
