Barrett-Jackson Selling a 2013 Shelby GT500

Barrett-Jackson Selling a 2013 Shelby GT500

According to a Ford-specialist website, the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona January 15-22 will also feature the sale of a 2013 Ford Shelby GT500.

This is in addition to the five vintage Shelbys already announced for the BJ Scottsdale auction. Those cars span 1965 to 1969 model years, while the 2013 GT500 is obviously a new car. In fact, it is a very new car, as the 2013 Shelby is a major update to the GT500 line and it is likely to be the first sale of a 2013 Shelby anywhere. A high-boost 5.8-liter V-8 is the main attraction at 650 bhp, but Ford insiders say the 2013 Shelbys also offer a heavily revised chassis with excellent handling.

There’s nothing new about Ford selling the first GT500 at a Barrett-Jackson auction. In 2006 Ford sold their first Ford GT exotic at Barrett-Jackson. In 2007 it was the first Shelby GT500 to cross the auction block, followed in 2008 by the 2008 Shelby GT500KR and in 2009 by the first retail Shelby GT500 and two Mustang GT concept cars.
