The Taiwan based computer maker Asus have launched a new multimedia notebook in Japan, it is known simply as the K73SD-TY2670, but it promises to offer the user high level of performance for starting price of around $1,200.
Asus are skilled at bringing out machines with high specs and reasonable prices, the K73SD-TY2670 is no exception to this rule and therefore the customer will be getting some serious specifications with the computer, it may not be a gamer’s choice, but for anyone wanting to watch video this is the one.
Not much is known about the K73SD-TY2670 notebook, but here is run down of what we currently have. It has a nice sized 17.3 inch WXGA++ LED back lit LCD screen with a 1600 x 900 of pixel resolution and there is room for a built in web camera too. Asus have gone for a quad core Intel Core i7 2670QM processor clocked at a 2.2 GHz but this can go up to 3.1 GHz with the help of the Turbo Boost feature.
For video and graphics, there is the Intel HM65 Express chipset and the Nvidia GeForce 610M 1 GB graphics card that comes with support for the Optimus technology. With 8 GB of DDR3 RAM there is no shortage of internal memory, while storage starts with a 500 GB hard disk drive (HDD) but the buyer could opt for another HDD to be installed doubling the storage capacity to 1 TB.
Connectivity offers the normal D-Sub15 pin, HDMI port, four standard USB 2.0 ports and an SD memory card reader (SDXC), networking has relies on the usual Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, while for reading data and watching video there is always the BluRay Disc Drive.
The vital statistics of the K73SD-TY2670 are 420 mm (W) × 282 mm (D) × 34.6 mm to 38.6 mm (H) and it will weigh in at 3.1 kg with the battery pack installed, which according to Asus should be good for up to five hours use in ideal conditions, whatever they are!
The K73SD-TY2670 notebook is currently on sale in Japan with a starting price of around $1,210, it is not known yet if this multimedia notebook will become available in other markets.
