Audi R18 Ultra Crashes During Testing
We wrote yesterday about Audi’s testing at Sebring, only to learn that one of the cars has crashed heavily. Timo Bernard was driving one of the non-hybrid R18 Ultras when the car apparently suffered a technical failure in the very bumpy turn 17. It’s thought the car’s right-front suspension failed sending the car backwards into the outside wall. Bernard was able to climb out on his own, but spent the night in a hospital for further tests. Audi has reported: “After analysis, it was determined that the same technical problem could not occur on the other test cars. Therefore it has been decided to continue the test.” Audi will be at the Florida track through Thursday.
