Nearly 100 Shelby automobiles congregated this morning at the Shelby American facility in Gardena, California, before setting off on a long drive through the California desert to Las Vegas. This impressive group of cars is headed to the Shelby American 50th Anniversary Bash, which runs from March 14-17. Over the next few days there will be lots of high-horsepower entertainment, which includes track days at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch in Pahrump, a scenic poker run and a car show on Saturday at the Shelby American World Headquarters in Vegas. If you’re in Vegas this weekend, it will be hard to miss this terrific group of cars!
And keep your eyes peeled for the May 2012 issue of Road & Track, which celebrates the 50th anniversary of Shelby American with a great look at some of the company’s classic creations—from original Cobra all the way to an incredibly potent new Mustang. With some classic Carroll Shelby words of wisdom thrown in for good measure, this issue isn’t to be missed!
