Below are the pros and cons. Pros: At this Amazon price, the Vado costs far less than the comparative competitors, the Vado wider screen videos encompass more background objects than the other brands, the overall video HD quality is very good, it is very easy to use,and has replaceable batteries. Cons: Built in is 4 gig of storage and there is no card slot to add more memory, it records sound in mono rather than stereo (3rd generation),included software is pretty basic, no image stabilization function. * Important note: I recommend the 2nd generation Vado over the 3rd generation Vado. Although the 3rd generation records in stereo and has 8 gig built in memory vs the 2nd generation’s 4 gig, comparison video tests show that the 2nd generation’s video quality is much better. This review is from: B-Stock Creative 2nd Generation Vado HD Pocket Video Camera 4GB (Black) This is a good inexpensive (.50 B-stock) down-to-earth pocket digital video camera for outdoor use. Its mainly a point and shoot camera and I was able to get great outdoor videos without even reading the manual. Pros: Great for Outdoors Extremely simple operation (Record, stop, Play) Support software works great for Windows 7 (didn’t try on other OS) Cons: the USB plug is a bad design and may ultimately break, if not handled with extreme care. no provision for external memory Forget about low light usage Summary: If you are looking for anything beyond point_and_shoot, this is not the one. My recommendation is based on the price of .50(B-stock); above .00, even brand new, I would say look elsewhere. I’ve owned it for about one year now and I’ve had nothing but good experiences with it. I purchased the “B-stock,” which is supposed to have damaged packaging or some imperfection, but it was perfect! Everything worked perfectly out of the box. Copying video to your computer is really convenient due to the built-in USB. There’s no need for a cable! It also has a hole in the bottom for a tripod. Though I have yet to buy a tripod myself, I’ve used my brother’s tripod and it works flawlessly. I love being able to connect the HDMI cable and send video straight out to my television. It looks and sounds perfect. Battery life: exactly what the manufacturer says. 2 hours HD, more if you shoot in SD. And it seems to charge very quickly. The only flaw I would say this camera has is that the microphone is a little weak.
