Fiat North America to Show Fiat 500 and 500C by Gucci at New York’s Fashion Week

Fiat North America to Show Fiat 500 and 500C by Gucci at New York’s Fashion Week: "

The Fiat 500 by Gucci and 500C convertible by Gucci are Cinquecentos made over by the Italian fashion house into micro-molto-bello luxury liners, and they’ll soon make their official U.S. debut in New York during Fashion Week (September 8-15) on Fashion’s Night Out (September 8). At the 500 by Gucci’s premiere at this year’s Geneva auto show, Fiat made it clear that the car would be available worldwide—that now officially includes the U.S.—by the end of the year, and the roofless 500C by Gucci was spawned in the interim.

Fiat has yet to announce U.S. pricing for either Guccified model, but the coupe and cabrio command €17,000 and €20,000, respectively, in Europe. Figure on similar or slightly higher numbers—but with dollar signs in front—when they hit dealers here. (Seems like a lot for a handbag, no?) Whether Americans will be smitten with tiny subcompacts with big price tags and high-end fashion-house connections remains to be seen, but the response at Fashion Week should be as good a barometer as any.
