If you have been using wordpress automatic upgrade feature, you may get “Briefly Unavailable for Scheduled Maintenance” error sometimes immediately after the upgrade process or if the upgrade process is interrupted/failed. It also prevents blog owner to use his wordpress dashboard. Sometimes even if you have already completed the upgrade process it displays “Check back in a minute”. WordPress creates a file “.maintenance” while performing automatic upgrade which prevents users to access blog during upgrade process. This is great feature actually, but if in case the upgrade process fails to due to some problem in internet connection or your pc gets turned off suddenly due to power failure then that error message ‘ll stay on blog for all the visitors as well as admins of the wordpress blog. This ultimately affects traffic of your blog. Here is the simple solution to get rid of this error message.
How to remove the error message.
1. Login into your hosting account.
2. Go to the Blog root directory
3. Delete the “.maintenance” file present there.
Now, your Blog is working perfectly normal as it was before.
You may have to run the upgrade process again if it had failed/interrupted. It’s simple how to know whether your upgrade was failed / interrupted. If you are able to see the notification bar of wordpress automatic upgrade in your Dashboard it means that last update was not completed successfully, simply update it once again. & if you do not see the notification bar for updating the wordpress you have upgraded wordpress successfully.
