Windows Mobile 6.5 will change the name, here is the Windows Starter Edition Phone
With the arrival of Windows Mobile 7, Microsoft has decided to "downgrade" WM 6.5.
For now you do not have much information about why this operation, but the only thing certain is that the good old Windows Mobile 6.5 will shortly become Windows Starter Edition Phone. Within a few months, therefore, should come to market Windows Terminal Phone 6.5.3 (Acer has already presented two) applying for this version to all those terminals that do not fit into the Windows Mobile 7 series.
Windows Mobile 7 will therefore not replace the current version but will complement and will be used by high-end handsets that have special hardware requirements. Support and upgrades to version 6.5.3 will not cease, and Microsoft will work on both platforms.
In Microsoft usually are not very willing to comment on their choices, therefore difficult to expect any word from Ballmer & Co.
Android 2.1, when where and why!?
Eclair 2.1 is now arrived a little in many different ways. The first was the Nexus and now hand hand many houses are upgrading their devices. But what are the terminals that will surely be updated to version 2.1? Below is a list with some nice surprises and, unfortunately, bad news.
Terminals that will be updated already on the Italian market:
* HTC Hero
HTC * Magic *
HTC Dream * *
* Samsung i5700
* Acer Liquid
* Motorola Milestone
Terminals that will arrive on the Italian market with a 2.1 or later that will:
* HTC Desire
* HTC Legend
* Acer and Liquid-
* Xperia X10
These terminals will certainly receive the official update. However, several clarifications are made.
1. The official update to 2.1 * HTC Eclair Magic (MyTouch) and * Dream (G1) were announced for the moment only in America with Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon and Vofafone ES. Unfortunately, it is said that these will arrive in Europe. There seems to be a sort of wall that prevents these updates to cross the ocean at the same time (in spite of globalization and Internet)
2. Acer Liquid-and is simply the version sold on board with Eclair and therefore do not need further upgrades when purchased.
In the list we see some missing. The reasons are different and we will try to analyze them.
* Galaxy i7500 has now received the official 1.6 update Donut, there are no rumors or unofficial rumors of a possible further update the firmware version. Hope is hard …
* Mini Xperia X10 and X10 will come with Android Donut Pro 1.6 and when there are no real data that can provide for a 2.1 update. Being different from a terminal-end Xperia X10 is not easy to make realistic assumptions. So at the moment we have not included in the list for lack of objective data.
* Motorola Quench and Backflip, with interface MotoBlur come with Android 1.6. From the data collected in Barcelona Motorola seems keen but the Update is not clear how and when and by no means immediate.
* LG GW620 out now with 1.6 in Italy and at the moment there is no information. The same goes for LG GT540 still has to come out and that was presented in Barcelona with Donut 1.6.
* HTC Tattoo of a large absent in the list of uffuciali which there is no news at the time confirmed.
To consider that the analysis made taking into consideration the present or the output terminals on the Italian territory. We did not want to consider other products intentionally. In addition to any differences and availability in Europe, plus the great diversity of products on American soil. Think Droid Eris, Dext Motorola, Samsung Behold Moment and II and others (Devour and Incredible out soon) and the different policies adopted by the various operators that sell Android smartphone.
In fact, few are overseas will be excluded from these updates. These updates, although in version 2.1, will have some differences with respect to the Roma of Nexus. These are due to different hardware, processor, and lower in the presence of a lower amount of RAM, as well as the different custom houses. There may be no 3D effects, transitions, animated backgrounds, 3D image gallery and other features that make it enjoyable update 2.1.
Deficiencies which are certainly not essential to use, allowing terminals to upgrade now considered dead (G1) but still updating and diminish the beauty of the innovations brought Eclair 2.1.
This then is the framework of the current market for terminals. A more rosy than the proposed 2 months ago and that leaves hope for many people (especially Americans) and that could open new ways to cook our own or not.
