For its first Frankfurt-show appearance, Infiniti focused on the flash of the FX Sebastian Vettel Version and special guest presenter Sebastian Vettel himself. But before the reigning Formula 1 world champion was brought out to unveil his namesake crossover, Infiniti design chief Shiro Nakamura quickly flipped through a slideshow that included a second teaser shot of the brand’s upcoming electric vehicle. That’s it above.
It looks a lot like the previous teaser (at right), shown almost exactly a year ago. What’s changed? Well, the image is less blurry, for one. This new shot gives a better idea of the profile, which is more sedan-like than the Nissan Leaf-esque appearance suggested by the original image (the Infiniti EV will borrow heavily from the Leaf in terms of electrical bits). What was retained is the kinky C-pillar, which is being adopted across the brand’s lineup. Infiniti also confirmed that the car will seat five and that it’s still set to launch in 2014. A ten-model lineup is promised for 2016, which will include this unnamed EV as well as a sporty, Audi A3–fighting front-drive car based on the Etherea concept.
