The MSI GT780DX breaks the 4 GHz barrier

The MSI GT780DX breaks the 4 GHz barrier:
What started off as a rumour has apparently been confirmed in a press release, the rumour was that MSI have managed to squeeze 4 GHz out of the GT780DX gaming notebook. Whereas in fact according to MSI, they state in a company press release that they managed to break the 4 GHZ barrier with the GT780DX powered by the limited edition Intel Core i7-2920XM Extreme Edition quad-core processor.

The press release stated that the laptop has reached a 4.16 GHz core clock speed, breaking the record in a very convincing manner. In real terms, this would mean that basic 1 GB files that would normally take 186 seconds to compress, would take only 129 seconds a drop of 44 per cent.
The fully loaded GT780DX comes with a 17.3 inch widescreen LED backlit display with either a 1600 x 900 or 1920 x 1080 of pixel resolutions and with a built in web camera too. As mentioned earlier, it will be powered by the special limited edition Intel Core i7-2920XM Extreme Edition 4.16 GHz quad-core processor. With graphics coming from NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 570M graphics core supported by a massive 3 GB of GDDR5 memory.

There is 16 GB of DDR3 system memory and with up to two hard disk drives (HDD) possible, it means that with a couple of 750 GB 7200rpm in RAID 0 installed 1.5 TB of storage space is possible. Other features include a choice of DVD or Blu-ray drive, a SteelSeries made LED backlit keyboard, two fast USB 3.0 ports, the eSATA port, HDMI 1.4 & VGA video ports, Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity and a 9-cell battery.
When it comes to the cost and availability, MSI have left us hanging on tender hooks, one thing is for sure this special limited edition laptop is not going to be cheap and we would not expect it to be either.
