Only yesterday Samsung started sending out invites to the press for the release event of Galaxy S III, it’s upcoming flagship Android smartphone. It is known for sure that the announcement is being made at a time when the device itself is ready for shipments across the world. A new report today claims that the Samsung Galaxy S III release event in London is going to be an affair of Olympian proportions, as the city is playing host to the games this year. Needless to say, millions of people will be present in London.
Apple product release events are generally the most watched. The hype about their new products starts building up from months before. So obviously in terms of scale, Samsung has to compete with Apple. It has very ingeniously chosen the venue of 2012 Olympics as the host of it’s next big product release event. Word on the street is that the Samsung Galaxy S III is going to be the official device of London Olympics 2012. The company is also going to host events in Dubai, New York City and Seoul in order to commemorate the launch which takes place in London on 3rd May 2012.
This is really a huge gamble for Samsung. It is going to unveil it’s device in front of a phenomenal audience, no doubt may of which are going to be anxious Android fans waiting to get a glimpse of this elusive device. Pre-mature information leaks have been curtailed to an extent this time around by Samsung, as they have put strict security protocols in place so as to protect information regarding the device from getting released just before it’s big unveiling event.
Obviously, nothing is known for sure right now regarding the features and specifications of Samsung Galaxy S III, though we’ve heard a lot of rumours. A Samsung Exynos quadcore 1.5GHz processor with at least 1GB of RAM is expected along with a Super AMOLED Plus touch screen display with 1080p resolution of either 4.6 or 4.8 inches. 4G LTE connectivity is almost obvious. Galaxy S III is rumoured to have an 8 megapixel back camera and a 2 megapixel front facing camera. In order to improve the overall feel of the device, Samsung is said to have fashioned this Galaxy smartphone out of a ceramic material. This material will be a welcome change as opposed to the plastic feel of it’s predecessor.
No rumours as yet about the pricing or availability of Samsung Galaxy S III. At this point in time, event the Olympian scale launch event bit is a rumour. We’ll only know for sure what Samsung has up it’s sleeves on May the 3rd, 2012.
