It is being reported on Radio Five Live that thousands of thoroughbred horses are being put down in Ireland.

During the boom times people could afford the £1500 to £2000 a month it keeps to keep them looked after properly. The only boom industry in Ireland is knackers yards.

Horse lovers are arguing it is kinder to put them down than to have them neglected. Perhaps better if they were regulated in the first place.

Just thought I'd throw it out there."
