The 2012 VW Passat is a Longtime Favorite: 2012 Model Continues to Bring the People What They Want:

2012 Volkswagen Passat

2012 vw passatThis year’s VW Passat is a whole different animal when compared to previous models. The biggest difference is that the 2012 Passat is American-made instead of German-made. It has been completely re-engineered for success in the midsize sedan market in the United States. Purists of the Volkswagen brand may scoff at this new concept, but there are quite a few tweaks that serve only to benefit the American market more effectively. Here are some of the features that Volkswagen buyers are satisfied with when they choose the newest Passat over its predecessors.

2012 vw passat Stated briefly, the changes made by Volkswagen make this year’s Passat roomier, less expensive, and more masculine. The car was stretched by four inches when compared to the 2011 version to offer more legroom in the back, the exterior was completely overhauled, and more features are added at a lower price. Still, the 2012 VW Passat hasn’t completely abandoned its German heritage. In fact, it still features solid soft-touch handles, supportive leather seats, and a solid dashboard—all components that defy what you would expect in a car starting at just $19,995.

2012 vw passatThe latest edition of VW Passat comes with three distinct engines from which to choose, all of which are fast and efficient. First is a 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine with 170 horsepower. Second, kick it up a notch with a powerful, 277 horsepower 3.6-liter V-6 engine. Finally, there’s a four-cylinder TDI that gets an impressive 43 miles to the gallon. This final upgraded engine is available on a trim that pumps the starting price up $6,000, but plenty of other goodies such as heated leather seats and 17-inch alloy wheels help to justify the price increase.

Test drivers agree that the 2012 Passat can cruise comfortably over broken pavement at high speeds and pull through tight turns without trouble. The navigation system is another benefit, offering XM radio and DVD playback. All this and much more can be yours starting at a full $7,000 less than last year’s model.
