Samsung has added a new compact camera to its line-up with the MV800 billed as the world's first compact camera to feature a flip-up screen to allow for easy shooting from unusual angles.

The camera, which is ultra slim and also boasts a touch-screen is designed to slot alongside Samsung's '2 View' range of cameras, which feature both a screen on the back and on the front of the camera.

The 3.0 inch wide screen can be flipped out to 180 degrees, with the live view on board flipping over if you turn the camera upside down. You can use the camera to shoot from above, on the ground or for self portraits and other unusual shooting angles.

Other features on board the camera include a 16.1 megapixel sensor and a 5x optical zoom lens with a 26mm wide-angle.

Live Panorama function has been added to the MV800, which allows for ultra wide angle images to be captured by sweeping the camera across a scene.

Touchscreen

Touchscreen technology is also used on the screen, with drag and drop style menus in use. Magic Frame can be found on the camera, which allows users to include 12 fun background templates along with the ability to customise your own. Picture-in-picture allows for one image to be inserted into another.

Smart Filters are also included, with a choice of 14 including Water Paint and Cartoon to choose from. 'Funny face' allows you to distort, bend and manipulate portraits for comedy effect.

Perhaps designed with social networkers in mind, the Pose Guide function allows users to get into position with line drawings on the LCD screen. The Beauty Shot feature enables editing of imperfections in portraits.

HD video recording at 720p is also available.

The Samsung Multiview MV800 UK price is likely to be around £249, with a UK release date of mid-September. A TV advertising campaign focusing on the product will also be launched in October.
