Hulme F1

New Zealand’s Hulme has released an official image (above) of what is supposed to be the final design of its long-awaited F1 model, and it is actually quite different from the prototype we saw in 2006. Both front and rear wings have been heavily modified in order to improve aerodynamics and obtain legal clearance in certain countries, making it at the same time very reminiscent of the latest Formula 1 fashion trends.

This supercar will use a state of the art carbon/titanium/kevlar composite chassis and composite body panels, and will be powered by a hand-built, supercharged V8 engine that will provide it with 700hp, which is quite an impressive figure for a car that weights only 1080kg. The first units will be available by the end of 2012, just in time to honor the 20th anniversary of the death of Denis Clive “Denny” Hulme, New Zealand’s only Formula One World Champion (in 1967) after whom the company is named. This is also the reason why only 20 F1 models will be initially produced.
