Indian manufacturer Mahindra has released official pictures of the XUV500, the new 5 or 7 seats SUV that will soon enter the Indian market and, possibly, foreign markets as well in the future. In comparison to previous classic off-road models like the Goa, this car represents an important step forward both technic-wise and design-wise. The goal is to offer a product that feels perfectly right for road use as well, that can meet the needs of international markets in terms of both comfort and performance. Mahindra’s full committment to this project is demonstrated by the 250 prototypes that have been used for its development, covering over 2.35 millions kilometers in the process.
The XUV500 is equipped with ESP, ABS, 6 Airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, LED headlights, mixed analog and digital instrumentation, rear camera and a mini-fridge in the central armrest. It is also possible to choose between front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive whose 4 × 4 wheel drive mode is not permanent anyway, but electronically controlled. The XUV 500 is 4,58 meters long and 1,9 meters wide, weights 2450 kg and is powered by Hawk’s 2.2 litres diesel engine with direct injection and VGT turbo that boasts a 140Hp/330Nm output. Average consumption should be about 15 km/l with manual transmission, while the automatic transmission will become available later on.
