Nokia 770

Nokia 770:

The Nokia 770, also known as the Nokia 770 Internet Tablet, comes with an incredible high-resolution screen that displays web pages amazingly. It measures 5.5 x 3.1 x 0.7 inches, weighs 8.2 ounces and is one of the choices available on the market when it comes to Internet tablets. It’s a little too long to be placed in your pocket, but has some advantages over a PDA including a high-resolution screen.

This Internet tablet features a 4.1-inch display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels that allows it to display web pages with little horizontal scrolling. The images look bright and colorful. On the left side of the screen is located a four-way navigation pad while below the navigator are accommodated the Back, Menu and Home keys. On top of the device you will find the full-screen toggle button, the power button and the zoom rocker while at the bottom you will notice the AC connector, the media slot and the 3.5mm headphone jack.

The Nokia 770 comes with an onscreen keyboard and with a handwriting-recognition program. The interface is attractive and intuitive, so navigating through the menu will be a pleasure. Even if this Internet tablet looks like a PDA, it features a web-oriented feature set, being able to connect to the web using Wi-Fi hotspots. The web experience is robust, because of the Opera 8 Mobile browser available that is able to support Flash content and JavaScript.

When it comes to the messaging section, the Nokia 770 provides support for IMAP4 and POP3 accounts and allows you to attach different documents to your emails. Regarding the audio player, the Nokia 770 has onscreen controls and you can listen to your favorite music as long as it’s in MP3, WAV or AAC format. The video department offers support for MPEG-1, AVI and RealVideo movies. To store your music and videos you have at your disposal 128MB of flash memory. There are also available other useful feats including a calendar and contact-management features as well as a battery that guarantees 3 hours of browsing time and 7 days of standby time.

Unfortunately, operating the Nokia 770 tends to be a little painful because of the slow experience. Even when you try to open a simple app, you will experience a pause of a few seconds. But things become even more painful when you try to load a 1MB PDF file. The upside is that this Internet tablet provides no more browsing delays once the web page of your choice is fully loaded.
