Abarth 500 Gets a Power Upgrade

Abarth 500 Gets a Power Upgrade:

Abarth Fiat 500

British buyers of this pocket rocket who don’t think it is feisty enough can now get a power upgrade courtesy of Superchips who have just remapped its ECU (engine control unit).

Power is increased by 22 bhp to 155 bhp at 5654 rpm, although the gains really start to be felt at 2000 rpm.

Torque has also received a hefty boost, with an increase of nearly 34 lb.-ft. over the standard car’s 152 lb.-ft. of torque, with peak delivery just a tad under 3000 rpm with subsequent gains in mid-range overtaking performance.

Superchips claim the re-mapping won’t overtly affect fuel consumption, but somehow I have a sneaking suspicion that the temptation to use the extra oomph might prove a little too strong.
