Saab Museum Saved

Saab Museum Saved:

1947 Saab Ursaab

Relax, Saab fans, the soon-to-be-defunct automaker’s collection of cars will remain intact.

A few weeks ago we wrote about how the 120-cars in museum would be auctioned off.

Not so fast.

Trollhättan, the home city in which Saabs were made, offered up for half of the $4 million needed to buy the 120 or so cars in the museum so they could be kept together. Saab AB, the defense company that builds, among other things, the Gripen jet fighter, and once owned the automaker chipped in. So too did the Marcus and Amalia Wallenberg Memorial Trust. Marcus Wallenberg was once the major stockholder in Saab.

Kudos to them all.
