Gumpert Apollo Enraged
Giant global car manufacturers typically dominate major auto shows around the world. The small carmakers, limited by their resources, swim an uphill battle with their undersized show presence trying to get attention.
But not at the annual Geneva Auto Show.

That’s because the Geneva Auto Show is limited by its size and availability of floor space inside the convention center. What’s more, the fact that most of Europe’s long-standing small carmakers call Geneva their home show makes it the perfect setting for them to showcase their cars on the world stage.
At this year’s 2012 Geneva Auto Show, the well-known German sportscar make Gumpert debuted two of its hottest new sports cars: the Apollo Enraged and the Apollo R.
Gumpert Apollo Enraged
The Apollo Enraged is the latest barely-street-legal line of 2-seater Apollo models. The Enraged is constructed (as are other Apollos) using a chrome-moly tube frame with a carbon/Kevlar monocoque passenger cell. Its race-car-like double-wishbone push-rod suspension all-around allows for adjustments in jounce and rebound rates, as well as ride height. The front 265/35ZR-19 and rear 345/30ZR-20 Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires are tamed by all-around 6-piston caliper, 15.6-in. ceramic brake discs.
Powering the Enraged is a 4.1-liter twin-turbo V-8 rated at 780 horsepower and 679 lb.-ft of torque. Mated to a 7-speed sequential gearbox with paddle-shift, the Enraged can rocket from a standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.9 sec., ultimately to a top speed of 205 mph.

This track-only extreme machine gets its 4.1-liter V-8 uprated to 860 horsepower and 723 lb.-ft. of torque. Weight reduction takes the car to only 2425 lb., and riding on Michelin slicks the R will sure be a speedy machine going around the famed Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit.
