Just a few weeks ahead of its debut on the market, Renault introduces four artistic interpretations of its re-styled Twingo, inspired by four well-known names in their respective area of expertise: meet ‘Twingo 55 FBG’, ‘Twingo Goes Pop’, ‘Scabin Pasta Twingo’ and ‘Twingo Wagon-Lire’.
The Twingo 55 FBG has been created with input from renowned fashion designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, and is meant to represent a presidential car. This model uses a particularly serious matt black paintjob for both bodywork and wheels, which creates quite a contrast with its very shiny and luxurious interior, characterized by golden finishing and trim, superior fabrics all around and classy vintage furniture (a chair, a sofa and a table) instead of the usual two rows of seats. Also worth mentioning are the chandeliers that provide light to the cabin, the white stripe on the tyres’ shoulders and the mandatory presidential flags on both sides of the bonnet.
Twingo Goes Pop is the outcome of the cooperation with British recording artist Nicola Roberts, who conveyed on the car three of her passions: music, fashion and coffee. The rear seats have been replaced by a mobile recording studio inclusive of sound mixer that can only be accessed through the hatch, with fashion magazine covers papering the sides and a coffee machine right on the top of it. The dashboard instead has been transformed into a massive makeup case. Other remarkable features of the Twingo Goes Pop include blingy microphone, headset and hair dryer, the creator’s logo on the headrest and, well, a blue paint job. Scabin Pasta Twingo comes out of the mind of Italian chef Davide Scabin. This garnet-colored Twingo manages to maintain both its rows of seats, only they are completed covered with raw pasta. Moreover, on the front, dashboard, pedals, footwells and legroom are gone, making room for some kitchen cabinets filled up with all sorts of food and ingredients. Only steering wheel and gearbox lever survived the slashing. Then, a little off-topic, there is a large fully functioning 3D TV in the trunk.
Last but not least, German designer Nils Holger Moormann contributed to the birth of the Twingo Wagon-Lire, which could be described as a reading room on four wheels, literally. On this rendition of the little French city-car the whole passenger compartment concept as we know it is just gone out of the window, replaced by wooden floor, couch, bookshelves full of books, lamps and even a fireplace. Lifting the hatch, you would find all you need to make a nice cup of tea - camp stove included - some towel, a magnifying glass and .. more books.
