On Monday we presented this week’s shifter and asked you to identify the make and model of the vehicle from whence it came. The first commenter to correctly identify it as a 1991 Nissan NX2000 was Ram Narayan, who will receive a Save the Manuals button and sticker as a reward.
The NX2000 pictured here was featured in a three-car comparison test in our November 1991 issue. It beat out the Geo Storm GSi and placed second behind the Mazda MX-3. The little Nissan may look unassuming, but it boasted some serious sports-car performance figures. The NX2000 sprinted from 0 to 60 mph in 6.9 seconds and could reach a heady 134 mph—impressive stuff from a Sentra-based coupe powered by a 140-hp four-cylinder.
